JOHN R. EDWARDS, MD, Neurosurgeon
John R. Edwards grew up in Utah Valley, and returned in 2015 to open his neurosurgery practice.
He attended Brigham Young University, graduating with a BS in Microbiology. He received his medical degree from the University of Iowa, Carver College of Medicine, where he graduated at the top of his class. He completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Indiana, where he trained at one of the busiest and most well-respected neurosurgery practices in the country.
Dr. Edwards specializes in scoliosis, brain and spinal tumors, lumbar and cervical artificial disc replacement, spinal motion preservation, spinal deformities, along with other brain and spinal injuries and trauma.
Dr. Edwards is skilled in the most minimally-invasive surgery techniques available. Because of this approach, patients are in surgery for shorter periods of time, have shorter hospital stays, and get better faster.
He has also pioneered the ERAS protocol, which is an optional patient program that enables surgery and recovery without the use of opioids or other addictive substances.
Dr. Edwards and his wife, Marie, have four active boys. They enjoy skiing, golfing, playing tennis and making music together.
An Entire Integrated Community Around You
Dr. Edwards’ goal is not to treat your symptoms. His goal is to get you healthy. That’s why he collaborates closely with other practitioners – physical therapists, pain doctors, ortho and sports medicine, chiropractors, dieticians, and many more. With his community of integrated practitioners, you will receive well-rounded care that’s hard to find anywhere else.
Additionally, Dr. Edwards leads a patient outreach and wellness program. He is also working with technologists and marketing experts to create a medical app where patients can own their own records, create their own care team, and track their recovery.
